ChatGPT: ‘The Screenwriter’

A New Kid on the Block?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a rapidly growing field changing our interaction with technology. One type of AI that has recently gained popularity is conversational AI, which allows computers to understand and naturally respond to human language. One example of a conversational AI is ChatGPT, a large language model developed by OpenAI.

So I decided to write a futuristic TV series set in Lagos Nigeria using chatGPT since there are close to none of such tv series and this is how it went down. During the first iteration of the process, it generated a bland script, it had no flavor and was just straightforward and would have made a boring show.

Even the title is boring, so we had to add some spice to it. I asked it to bring Brain mapping and Artificial intelligence into the show making it a lot more dystopian. Got a little better, even the title seems more interesting “The Minds of the Future” it said. I was going for something dark, dystopian, and thrilling so it did it.

The title was still not as catchy as I wanted it to be so I suggested a better title. I also suggested that it adds some sort of human evolution to it caused by the advancements in technology because it was so much like “Black Mirror” and I wanted something better. Then I asked it to add a couple of twists to it because good twists here and there make movies addictive, which was what I was going for.

That was us going back and forth on the title. Finally settled on one. It felt like I was actually creating an actual script with a co-worker. But then I asked for the full script and it hit me with this

Guess if I still want to develop the script fully I will still need the service of an actual screenwriter, but this is actually amazing. I didn’t know I could get something like this when I started, I wonder what ChatGPT 4 would do given that it will be way smarter than this current version.
